Chesni, Junior Akita Correspondent
With both our Senior and Junior Akita Correspondents crossing over Rainbow Bridge, we took on the search for a new Akita Correspondent. We now are happy to introduce Chesni. Chesni came to us from Big East Akita Rescue (B.E.A.R.) in December 2016. She is 4-1/2 months old, so she still has to learn the ropes, so to speak. Besides her on-the-job training, Chesni will be receiving formal schooling to ensure she has all the necessary skills.
CeCe, Senior Akita Correspondent
Originally from Redding, California, she was 12 weeks old when she came to us in 1999. Her official name is TNG's Lucy in Disguise, but she affectionately goes by CeCe.
Argus, Junior Akita Correspondent
Getting his name from Greek Mythology, Argus came to us in 2004. His pregnant mom was taken in by ARWNY and he was born while she was in foster care. Argus was 9 weeks old when he joined us.

Tex, Chihuahua Correspondent
At just six pounds, this little guy is the smallest member of the group. Just 3 months old he was already turned into a shelter and placed for adoption. Lucky for us and him, he only spent a couple of days in the shelter before coming to us. Tex was literally only a handful then, it was 2010 and he weighed two and a half pounds.

Jabbers
Every place needs a town crier and a gossip, well, Jabbers is both. She came to us in 2002 from Willingboro Vet Clinic. She was a scrawny kitten from a litter that was abandoned in Camden, NJ. Jabbers is very vocal and makes her presence known, hence her name.
The heavy-weight of our group, Jack tips the scale at 22 pounds. Also from a litter dumped at the vet office, Jack came to us the same day as Jabbers in 2002. Jack has made it his mission to alert the higher-ups if the food bowl needs refilling.
Inky
Try to imagine 90 plus degrees outside and being a newborn left by your mother. That is Inky's beginning. It was July 2003, when we found her, only hours old, alone in the searing heat. Inky was bottled raised and beat all odds and is a happy, healthy member of our group. Her favorite spot is where ever CeCe is.
Basha is an inspiration having overcome so many obstacles. She has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which manifests as mobility issues, but that has not deterred her from figuring out how to navigate up and down stairs, how to eat and drink without falling into her bowl or from climbing up to get a better view. She is a problem-solver and extremely smart. We found her in October 2003, cold and suffering from eye and respiratory infections. She was 3 weeks old.
Kira
Named for the Greek Muse of dancing, Kira twirls and sways. Only she is not moving to music, rather her movements are a manifestation of Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Unlike Basha, she no mobility issues, but does have fixations that result in her circling and head swaying. Kira joined us in 2008 as a kitten. She was in foster care with Furrever Friends.
Gilmore
If one word describes Gilmore it's "Loner". She keeps to herself and you rarely know she's around. That is until she teams up with her best friend, Tex. These two take turn chasing each other around and you can find them napping together. Gilmore came to us in 2010 from Furrever Friends as a small kitten.
Randi

Randi is such a cat, she wants nothing more than to cuddle, love and be loved. Randi adopted me...she literally wrapped herself around my neck. There was no leaving the shelter without her. Randi was 4 years old when she came to us from PAWS in 2009. In June 2013, Randi suffered a severe break to her front leg, which resulted in amputation.
